Michael
it's actually a serious possibility

Michael
that the braves aren't going to win another game this month

Tom
heh

Michael
Dbacks tonight

Michael
then three with the dodgers

Michael
at montreal (well, that's teh best chance, obviously)

Michael
and then at Philly

Tom
yikes

Michael
they've lost 6 of their last 7 series

Michael
and they're still only 4 games out

Michael
NL east is starting to look like the AL central :)

Tom
no kidding

Michael
so say what you will about the man (speaking of sports)

Michael
Garnett went to war :)

Michael
i've always said that if you're gonna say stupid shit, you better play like the devil, and he played pretty damn well

Tom
yes

Tom
on his b-day no less

Michael
didn't realize that

Michael
so now they have the priviledge of being fed to the lakers

Michael
but it was fun while it lasted

Tom
yeah

Michael
i feel kinda bad for Chris Webber

Tom
?

Michael
he's been taking heat for years because he's supposedly one of the best players in the game

Michael
(the kings' star)

Michael
but he can never seem to have that one career-defining playoff moment

Tom
yes

Michael
last night the game ended with him missing the three that would have tied it

Tom
they were going on about that on M&M this morning

Michael
i suppose

Tom
that MLB, NFL, even NHL to a lesser degree dont define there players by what they did in the post season

Tom
Ted williams.. one of the greatest

Tom
bonds.. same thing

Michael
but basketball, it's all about the playoffs

Michael
yes

Tom
but if you have a monster season but dont get out of the first round in the NBA you are forgotten about

Tom
apparently Alex english was that way

Tom
great player.. never won antyhing

Michael
because even those who love basketball have a hard time watching the regular season :)

Tom
yes

Michael
did you hear about the hockey tv deal?

Tom
nbc right?

Michael
yeah

Michael
that'll go well between arena football games

Tom
does that mean there is GOING to be hockey?

Michael
NBC and ESPN are betting there will be

Michael
then again, there was very little actual tv coverage involved

Michael
epsn gets about a game a week on espn2 all season, plus the playoffs

Michael
nbc gets like 7 weekend reg season games, a few weekend playoff games, and the last 4 games of the cup finals

Michael
not a ton of lost programming if there's no hockey

Tom
nice

Tom
oh

Tom
on the radio last night on the way home

Tom
i discovered my new dream job

Tom
Keeper of the Cup

Michael
yes

Michael
the guy who keeps it shined and travels with it?

Tom
yeah

Tom
his reposinsiblity to keep it safe and take it wherever

Tom
there are 3 of them

Tom
with it 24 hours a day

Tom
which means you get to be there for the parties..

Michael
yes

Tom
they asked him what his favorite thing a player did with it

Tom
he said there were too many to mention.. but one of the cuter ones was a player (forgot his name) renteed out a movie theatre.. sat in the front row with his two little kids and had the cup in front of them filled with popcorn and watched 'lion king"

Michael
nice

Michael
what i think is so cool about that is that the cup is actually older than the NHL

Michael
it's not maufactured by the league at all, which isn't the case with most championships

Tom
yeah

Michael
i think i'd read that the only active trophy that's older in N.America is the America's Cup for sailing

Tom
so my question is this...

Tom
these guys have huge parties

Tom
and fill the cup with beer or whatever there bevg, of choice is

Tom
do you suppose after a bit of partying the let there friends touch or drink out of the cup?

Michael
supposedly the only hockey players who are allowed to touch it are the ones who have their names on it

Michael
don't know about non-players

Michael
i would think you could let your kids at it or something

Tom
thats what i mean.. if you dream of holding the cup.. all you really have to do is be friends with a good player

Tom
screw all that hard work

Michael
if you're not a player yourself, yes

Michael
if you are, i think it's one of the "unwritten rules"

Michael
that you don't get to touch it til you win it

Tom
ah

Michael
i'm not familiar with the ettiquette of pro hockey players, though

Michael
so i might be wrong

Michael
the off-season NFL team reports are starting, i see

Michael
i'm such a geek for that. this is where spring training boy makes fun of me

Tom
yes

Tom
i would argue that ST is one month long.. tthen the season..

Tom
foot bal has like TEN off season camps

Tom
kind of anti climatic

Michael
true

Michael
well, the climax is the season starting

Michael
til then, all is speculation, just like ST

Subject:i'm so screwed i can see my ass......
Security:Public
Mood: stressed
Music:Evanescence (on my palm no less)

sometimes i amaze myself.

Seriously.

I have a shit-pot of work that i HAVE to get done soon and yet here i am posting to my blog. i have no discipline. Exhibit A of that is the fact that i hanvt posted here since i left for x-mas. GUH. i just cant seem to get up the energy to write. In fact i have no energy to do anything that i'm actually getting PAID to do. Instead i sit at my computer FAKING work and surfing the internet.. which in reality is probably more stressful than the actual work.

And now i have pissed away a 3 week deadline into a 4 day one. And one of those days is full of meetings and the other is off to the dr in the afternoon with my wife.

Man am i screwed.

I should really work. i think i need some sort of mini-demon to sit on my shoulder and crack a whip. seriously. i dont want a friend or a co-worker to get me focused because irrationally i will just be pissed as hell at them. I need some head-spinning pea-soup-puking demon sitting on my shoulder screaming "YOU WILL BURN IF YOU DO NOT WORK!!!" i think that's what i need. Yeah. i wonder if Opra is available......

plus messneger is the devil i've decided. every time i resolve to begin work (yeah right) i either (A) get an idea i need to messenger to my buddy, or (B) he messengers me with something.. GUH.

PLUS, i have a serious problem with buying shit. i mean, i need help. I buy gadgets like a junkie buys heroine. I even try to hide it from my wife.. apparently i'm never satisfied with what i have, i need the next biggest newest gadget. I mean, seriously, is it bad when you lie in bed and the only thing you can think of is what you are going to do with the new toy once you get it? and then when you do your already looking ahead. Thank god this doesnt apply to my relationships, just toys. but man.. is there a wing in the Betty Ford Clinic for Gadget Junkies?

ok. Because i've been lazy and not posted anything in 2.5 weeks a brief (really brief) recap of those said weeks.

1. saw LOTR:ROTK - two words... KICK ...ASS! this movie rocked so hard. I do not have the time nor the energy to go into detail about how much i loved this movie.. check out Job's blog to see what he thought of it, then just insert my name instead of his..

2. Christmas rocked. My wife is way too good to me. It amazes me sometimes how much she puts up with about me. I mean, read above.. but somehow she manages to day after day and still have a smile. THis year she not only gets me the DVD BBurner i wanted (lets be honest, i KNEW i was gonna get one.. 364 days of begging gets you that) BUT the one she GOT keeps amazing me every day.. this thing BURNS baby. . and the time and energy she put in to find a good one is a better gift than the actual burner... i mean.. she had pages and pages of RESEARCH!

3. Work sucks again. The CEO has returned from his 2 week vacation and the stress level in the office has doubled once again. Every time i think i need to begin looking for a job i think about the past couple days of not doing much and the complacency factor kicks in.. Which in reality shoul dbe all the more reason to go looking.. I obviously need a challenge.. but i lack the direction and fear the unknown..

4. It's figgin cold. minus -4 yesterday. GUH i HATE cold and snow and cold ...i cant wait for spring...

5. I read Micahel Crichtons' 'PREY' on my palm pilot (another Toy i know) ..it's afantastic read. I highly reccomend it.

6. The Broncos - guh. Let me get some vasaline for my ass. that one hurt. i completly blame the coaching staff.. they just did NOT show up to play sunday.

ok.. that's my two weeks in a nutshell.. Now i really need to get to work. seriously.. this is for real.

ok in a sec. the only motivation i have come up with for continuing to drive myself forward through this insane mental block is a sonogram pic of my unborn child.. Hopefully it will keep me focused on why i go to work every day....

Things are crazy here at work. Basically they have a CEO, a Sales VP who are buddies and co investors in the company. and they want to take the company in a different direction. A different direction than what the CTO who helped re-build this company is involved with. And instead of just buying him out they are doing it the dirty way. The same way we got rid of the LAST cto. by going behind his back and removing every shred of responsiblity. The problem is they are doing it like we're not supposed to notice. they keep putting a smiley face on the whole thing. being a little peeon sucks. it's gottent o the point where i dont know if i will be employed next year. Well, i htink i will, but i dont know if i would want to be employed here. I really hate the ceo. rich prick.

2 days to denver. Thank god.

For anybody who knows me and talks sci-fi this is a no brainer. Still, this has to be the best show ever to get skull-rammed by poor ratings. I dont have enough room to go into everything as to why this show is cool, so you have to take my word for it. The funny thing is i hadnt even really paid attention to this show until January of this year.. Since then thanks to repeats and the wonders of ReplayTV i have seen every single episode boefore is was canceled. 2003 has been "The Year Of Farscape" for me. And Now it's comming back! YE HA! ok.. i'll stop rambling about that.

Cubs news-
Teh cubs traded for lightweight Michael Barret to play catcher. And by lightweight i mean I could outhit him. he had a .208 avg last year. Granted he was injured for most of it but still. For some Reason Jim Hendry has been jonseing for this guy for quite some time. The only thing i can think of is that he sees something in him that the stats arnt showing. He is only 27 so maybe this will be a breakout season for him and we could actually have a decent catcher behidn the dish for a few years.. soemthing we havnt had for a long time. (BA not withstanding the catcher position is turning into quite the revolving door.) I'll reserve judgment on this trade unitl oh say May. If he still sucks then i will have a good long tirade ready to go.

Ok.. 1st rule of this blog is.. no comments on the spelling! i gernerally think faster than i type and in order for my poor fingers to keep up i sometimes screw up spelling an grammar.. deal with it.. if it annoys you that much then go read Webster's F'n Blog cause it aint gonna change..

Now, as to the subject of this blog.. well i have no idea. mainly just ramblings of yours truly as i try to unwrap the mysteries of the universe.

Acutally not really. My main thrust (huh. huh. huh..'thrust') is to continue blogging as long as my compatriot in arms 'job' blogs. The deal is i blog, he blogs, and we each read each others.. that way we know at least ONE person is reading this crap.

So on with the show! and tune in later today for more rambling thougths....
